The camp is completely surrounded by farm fields with the nearest civilization over a mile away. It is a beautiful, peaceful oasis in the midst of East Anglia's fens.
Mission of Camp Liahona
The mission of Camp Liahona is to provide a beautiful and peaceful setting where people come to get away from the perplexities of the world, to relax, to have some fun, to render some service, to pause and really see and listen to one another, to be nourished and fortified by their love for each other and for their God and their Savior, to contemplate the truths of eternity, and to hear the whisperings of the Spirit.
"
Let the woods and all the trees of the field praise the Lord; and ye solid rocks weep for joy! And let the sun, moon, and the morning stars sing together, and let all the sons of God shout for joy! And let the eternal creations declare his name forever and ever..." D&C 128:23
Goals at Camp Liahona
• Make camping comfortable and fun so that activities can have maximum effect
• Provide activities that build self-confidence, self-control and leadership skills
• Provide activities that fortify personal, family and church leader relationships
• Provide activities that strengthen testimony in Jesus Christ
• Provide service opportunities
Camp Liahona Serves Latter-day Saint Groups
This is a dedicated LDS Camp, open year round by reservation for LDS church groups of all types. During the summer weeks when schools are closed youth groups have top priority on the schedule. Other groups may schedule during these weeks but only within 3 weeks of their desired arrival date.
Being at Camp Liahona is as close to being at the temple as many people can experience. It is a dedicated site and a special spirit resides here. It can be a temple-like experience if the distractions of the world are eliminated. We strongly advise all campers to not bring any electronic devices (mobile phones, music players, games, etc.) and to plan on at least a 4 night camp.
It takes 3 days for the drumming of the world to wash out of our minds so that we can begin to hear and feel the Holy Ghost whispering the eternal truths of the Gospel in our hearts.
As a dedicated site, it is expected that all who come here will adhere to LDS Church standards at all times.
